Our Christmas Aid programmes continued in the region of Tokat in Turkey where a large number of Assyrian Christian Refugees are currently residing.

This year those living in this area were visited by Assyrian Church of the East Archdeacon Emmanuel Yokhana. Archdeacon Emmanuel conducted Holy Eucharistic Services for 85 families, visited them in their homes and offered prayers to our on the ground team of volunteers, thanking them for their service to ACERO and to refugees living across the country.

We take this opportunity to thank His Holiness Mar Awa III, Catholicos-Patriarch for arranging for Archdeacon Emmanuel to visit the country to carry out this invaluable spiritual duty, bringing comfort and reassurance in extremely difficult times of transition and uncertainty for these families.

Our Turkey Chapter volunteers distributed financial aid to each family in addition to gifting each family with food vouchers to cover costs for the festive season. Our thanks to all the organisations and individuals that sponsored this distribution, including the Assyrian Evangelical Church of San Jose, Assyrian Christian Compassion Ministry, St Mary’s Church Los Angeles and Mr Simon Krek.
