ACERO’s Baghdad Chapter has been working tirelessly to meet the humanitarian needs of Assyrians in the city. ACERO is reaching those most in need through churches and schools. Support has included providing scholarships to university students, funding medical emergencies and chronic illnesses and providing food aid in association with our churches. ACERO is pleased to have the blessings and support of His Holiness Mar Gewargis III Sliwa, Catholicos-Patriarch.
ACERO is working closely with parish priests including the Rev’d Fr Awgin Hurmiz, Rev Fr Aprem Alkhori and Rev’d Fr Behnam to ascertain and address the ongoing needs of their communities. We are grateful to the clergymen and to Mr Salman Spanya and his ACERO team for the support they are providing on the ground in implementing our aid projects.
ACERO also recognizes and appreciates the support of our institutional project partners, including the Barnabas Fund and various organisations, churches and individual supporters from around the world.
In the photos below, recent services and activities can be seen at St Odisho’s Church in the Garage Amana suburb, St George’s Church in the Dorah suburb and St Zaia’s Church Mechanic suburb.
In light of the great need for support in Baghdad, we have a comprehensive program to implement in education, health, and humanitarian needs for our people.
